Bring Your Own Sound!

At the young age of 13, David Porcelli began to take an interest in playing music in a group. Mutual musical interests brought him together with his friend, Alex Graves, who began playing guitar and singing. Eventually, they wrote their first song, Melody, and looked for other members to join them in their newly formed group. On that quest they found bassist Charlie Perris and drummer Henry Ellis. Together they went into the studio and recorded melody, kicking off their musical career. However, Henry soon left the band to pursue other projects. After an open drummer audition, the newly named Wingate found Jackson Murray. Despite being rough around the edges and eccentric, he had chops and had good chemistry with the band. Wingate continued like this for a few more months until Charlie eventually quit. Having been teaching himself bass for several months, Alex volunteered to fill the gap. Being best friends with David and having played with him and Jackson before, the three of them locked in musically. Another friend of the band, Daryl Uberoi, tried out as the singer and was a shoo-in. His mix of melodies with rhythmic rapping brought a new texture to Wingate, giving them their unique sound. A year later, they had written a number of songs and were better than ever, and began to play shows at local concerts and tailgate parties.

Saturday, November 28th, 2009, was a momentous day for Wingate. For Jackson and Daryl, it was their first adventure in a studio. For David and Alex, it was the return to what they had tried years before. In the studio for 10 hours, the band cranked out their first demo and began to get their name out there. With these demos, Wingate aims to present themselves for local venues and even record companies. With two years left before the band ends high school, they are unsure of their future. But they do know they will have as much fun with it as they can.
